On November 2-4, National YWCA and the Branch jointly held an annual workshop on the theme of “To be a healthy, happy and environmentally friendly young woman.”
Volunteers and officers of the chapters successfully completed various activities through the courses and short-time practice, fully demonstrating the strong cohesion and enthusiasm of the YWCA. With a lecture given by President Shu-ti Chiu of the Yilan Branch, we got a better understanding of the current situation and international trends of aging, and let participants reflect on the direction of ministry services. After PresidentChun-Feng Lin gave a lesson, we knew more about the cohesion of the group. According to the data of the Women’s Welfare Administration Plan of Nantou County in 2018, the female population at the end of 2016 was 246,173, accounting for 48.7% of the total population. According to the report of the survey on women’s living conditions in Changhua County in 2015, we can see that women in the county have the needs for financial security, health, rights and interests protection and social participation. After the establishment of the Nantou YWCA, it will realize the experience and ideas of the YWCA in women issues, and in line with the needs of local women and government policies, it will provide more opportunities for women and families in Nantou to participate in empowerment activities and courses, so as to promote women’s rights and well-being.

It is expected that women will lead the development and maintenance of an environment of justice, peace, soundness, human dignity, freedom and care. Adhering to this spirit, and in accordance with the needs of local women, diversified services are provided for children, young women, the elderly, the economically disadvantaged, victims/perpetrators of domestic violence, new immigrants and indigenous people to enhance the development of women in all aspects.
